This is one of the harder Revel's records to find. I seem to only ever turn up "Church Key", which is a great instrumental. Dig this exotic tune called "Intoxica!"

Puddle Jumper

Junked this 3 months ago. "Puddle Jumper" is a great rockabilly/R&B tittyshaker instro. Great guitar and sax give it that greasy sound. I dropped the needle on it and I knew I had to have it. Ember is a hard label for me to turn up. I usually only see the The Silhouettes or The Five Satins, with that being said I'm gonna pick up anything out of the ordinary. I don't have any information on Davey Dee and The Mudcats, so if any of you readers and listeners have any then please send it my way. Give this a spin. DIG!

Found this one last month in a friends sale box. I touched this on the record player and I knew I had to have it. I don't know who Davey Jones is but he shouts on this R&B pounder! He's got a great voice and there's a wailin' sax break. "The Chase" sounds like it could be on a Stompin' or Desperate Rock N Roll compilation. Another great black rocker track!

Picked this one up at the local record store early this month. I don't think its a super rare cut from Champion like Little Ike-She Can Rock, which if you don't know, listen to it now! Great R&B shouter by Earl Gaines. Fantastic guitar and sax. It's just an overall fantastic platter. I don't turn up blues records to often and I certainly don't see the Champion label a lot. Take er' for a spin!

I was given this photo from a collector a few months back. I think its a pretty awesome photo. You can just make out the pin striping on the guitar and bass. I don't know anything about the band other than that they are from St. Louis. If anyone has any more information on this group, please let me know.

Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone

Found this one at a record shop outside of Milwaukee this summer. I knew the Rockin' R's   from "Crazy Baby" and "Heat" and of course the great Rockin' R's comp put out by Norton. I had never heard this vocal cut but when I threw it on the turntable I was surprised to hear a nice uptempo ballad tune. I couldn't stop playing it, its got such a nice sound. This song really reminds of Ray Collin's Hot Club, I could really hear them covering this tune. The record was pressed by Columbia in 1959. The Tempus label is based out of Peoria,IL. If you don't know the Rockin' R's, I highly suggest you pick up the Norton compilation!

Come Back Baby

Here's an odd one I just picked up while junkin' my friend Tony's basement. I never really knew there was much R&B on capitol besides: Johnny Otis, T-Bone Walker, Sugar Chile Robinson and infamous R&B pounder ESQUERITA! I took a chance on this record, someone wrote "piano blues w/ sexy sax & blues guitar" on the sleeve......I was sold. Took this platter for a spin and I was surprised, not a little bad jump number. Usually when I see records like this they turn out to be bad Bill Haley wannabes. Great guitar on this track and Pepper Neely on vocals really reminds me of Wynonie Harris. Whaddya think?
